Jenny Glenn Wuerker
Contemporary Realist
Landscape Paintings
Jenny Wuerker lives and paints in Buffalo, Wyoming. Her large-scale
landscape paintings in oil are completed entirely outdoors, on location.
The paintings are completed over many sessions, large ones often taking
more than a month to paint. Each day, she returns to the same spot to
record the beauty of a specific place. The subject of her work is as
much the act of painting outdoors as it is the landscape depicted.
Painting on a big canvas, entirely outdoors and immersed in the
elements, can be like the X-sport of landscape painting.
Painting the Wyoming landscape since 1993, Jenny finds that the striking
light, vast expanses, sublime solitude and stunning geology are an
endless subject for the landscape painter. She received her BA
from Yale University in 1987, and her MFA from The American University
in 1992. Her work is in private collections across the U.S. and she has
been featured in Southwest Art Magazine. Her work frequently can be
viewed at The Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, The Nicolaysen Art
Museum in Casper, or Bradford Brinton Museum in Bighorn. She has taught
art at the college and high school levels, and now paints full-time in
the shadow of the Bighorns/bigger>.
